Hi There!
My name is Anna Jung-Hwa (she/her). I was born in South Korea, grew up right outside of Chicago, spent my high school years in the Dominican Republic, and now reside on the west side of Chicago (Potawatomi, Odawa, and Ojibwe land) with my partner. I identify as Korean-American, queer, and an abolitionist. In my spare time, Iām either trying to keep up with our foster toddler, mobilizing artists in activist spaces via the organization I co-founded, Chicago Artists Against Genocide, or participating in community care and mutual aid.
I have been taking photos since I can remember. To this day, one of my favorite gifts as a child was my point and shoot film camera that I would always carry with me, oftentimes trying to get whoever I could to let me take photos of them. I took photos throughout high school and college, but it was in the beginning of 2017 that I began to take photography seriously and pursue it as a profession.
My philosophy to my photography is simple. I'm not a fan of unnatural poses, plastic settings, or over editing. I live for capturing the intimate and unforgettable moments, I desire to tell stories through my work, and I strive to provoke feelings through what I create.
I would love to connect with you and learn more about who you are, what you're looking for, and how I can best help you!
